Funding the shared layer behind Cardano

Infrastructure focused. Ecosystem-wide impact.

The Cardano Tooling DAO is a purpose-built funding mechanism for the libraries, SDKs, APIs, block explorers, indexers, and developer workflows that every serious Cardano product depends on.

Founding coalition

Cexplorer Orcfax TapTools

Our members

A coalition of infrastructure, data, and tooling providers.

Data Platforms

Supporting projects like Oracles, Indexers, Explorers, and more.

SDK / library maintainers

Backing popular libraries, smart contract tooling, and language support.

Core tooling operators

API services, uptime-critical shared services.

Developer experience teams

Supporting documentation, onboarding tools, and educational tooling.

Mission & scope

Dedicated funding for Cardano's most used core tools.

Why we exist

Tooling and infrastructure has a structural funding problem. Critical Cardano tooling has historically competed against L1 infrastructure, commercial dApps, and research programs for the same treasury pool.

What we fund

Libraries, SDKs, APIs, block explorers, indexers, integrations, testing frameworks, developer environments, operational costs, growth, and essential maintenance.

What we improve

Faster shipping for builders, more reliable end products for users, and a stronger platform-level developer experience that compounds across the ecosystem.

How we differ

This DAO is narrowly scoped to shared infrastructure and coordination, not general dApp growth. It creates a strategic capital lane for the ecosystem's common layer.

Governance structure

Builder-informed decisions inside a dRep-overseen initiative DAO framework.

1

Membership

Organizations and teams maintaining core Cardano tooling qualify through active infrastructure work and verification requirements.

2

Council

A 7-member council oversees capital allocation and governance. Four seats are member-elected and three are elected by dReps directly.

3

Capital allocation

Funding supports both maintenance and growth of existing ecosystem infrastructure, with KPI outcome reporting and dRep-level accountability around outcomes.

4

Oversight

dReps provider oversight to KPI reporting and tracking, and in shaping and enforcing the DAO's governance frameworks for fund-allocation.

Why this matters

Strong tooling is core to a thriving ecosystem.

Developers choose platforms based on the quality of the developer experience. Better tooling attracts builders. Builders ship better products. Better products attract users. This DAO exists to fund the start of that flywheel.
